While her mother Martha was still pregnant, Heather was diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome. But Heather determined in her heart to never to allow her condition to affected her liberty or independence. As she entered her early twenties, it was this liberty that gave Mark and Heather the ability to assist their daughter to move into her very own place. Heather’s parents knew very well that one day she would be in need of some oversight and assistance more than is normally needed for typical young adult. They also knew of Heather’s rebellious nature. Which would be kindled if she felt the slightest hint of micro-managing from her parents. That’s why Mark and Martha introduced Heather to Sonja, an in-home aid at Elevation Home Care.
Sonja fits in perfectly with the group at Elevation Home Care, she is on-time and says thank you. Mark and Martha who calls at Heather’s apartment home to make sure that she is not in need of anything from the grocery store and that everything is going okay. Heather loves Sonja’s visits. They are two peas in pod now, they spend a couple of hours together every few days while Sonja assist Heather with necessary task around the house; such as light household cleaning and takes her out for grocery shopping. Heather and her parents relationship has been nothing but an improvement.
